What is going on in Chavez's and Maduro's Venezuela and what does it mean for the left-wing cycle of the past 20 years in Latin America? This talk will explore the complex political situation in which Venezuela finds itself in as it relates to the overall crisis that the progressive cycle of left-leaning governments such as Dilma in Brazil, Evo Morales in Bolivia and Cristina Kirchner in Argentina is facing. Are we experiencing the end of this period more commonly known as the Pink Tide? How can we understand the current rightward shift in the region? Can the Venezuelan revolution survive?
