Women's Liberation and the Russian Revolution

The Women’s March on January 21, 2017, was the largest single day of protest in US history.

100 years ago on International Women’s Day, mass protests of women workers sparked the 1917 Russian Revolution that brought down a brutal authoritarian regime and, for a brief period, established the first worker’s state in world history.

Hear Emma Wilde Botta--local activist and member of the International Socialist Organization--discuss the stories of these women and how they organized before and during the Russian Revolution, the debates around women’s oppression that took place then and continue today, and the role of women in achieving a socialist society.

Let’s make 2017, 1917 again!
