Backward ideologies prop up the power of the wealthy few. These ideas tend to crumble when the oppressed and exploited move into action. But if, as Marx and Engels wrote, “the ruling ideas are the ideas of the ruling class,” where do people get the idea to challenge the way our society is organized? How can a majority of working people become conscious of the ability of our class to build a world based in genuine equality?
