Fannie Lou Hamer famously said, āIām sick and tired of being sick and tired.ā Though a powerful figure in the civil rights movement, the important role that she and other Black women played in the civil rights movement is often overshadowed by Martin Luther King. This talk will dig into the contributions of three woman whose voices, courage and insights were of critical importance in shaping the early civil rights movement and pivotal in smashing Jim Crow in the South.
