The US remains the world’s predominant political and economic power, but it now views China’s growing economic influence as a potential geopolitical challenger, leading it adopt Barack Obama’s Pivot to Asia and Donald Trump’s trade war and threats of a new Cold War. This panel will discuss the nature and roots of the rivalry and the importance of building international solidarity between the workers movements of both countries.
