Climate change is accelerating, working-class living standards are declining, and the right wing is feeling emboldened. Meanwhile, women’s rights are under attack and the racist prison system continues to lock up millions in the U.S. But it’s not enough to condemn capitalism as the root cause of our suffering—we need to imagine what life could be like in the United States if we had economic, as well as a real political, democracy, and figure out the strategies for how to get there.
