This is a recording of the presentation given before a public meeting of the Chicago ISO on 6/21/16
The police murders of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge have caused widespread outrage in a country already racked by an epidemic of racist police violence.
In response, tens of thousands of people have marched in the streets across the country to demand justice. The movement for Black lives, despite political repression, has grown and resonates with more people than ever.
But, what will it take to get the justice we are demanding? How can we win a world free of racist cops? Join this public forum for a discussion of where the movement for Black lives is at—and where we need to go from here.
